The IEEE GRSS Austria Chapter is the local community of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society serving researchers, professionals, and students in Austria.

The chapter was officially formed on 23 June 2025 to strengthen the geoscience and remote sensing community in Austria and to create a bridge to the wider European and global GRSS network.

Our mission is to:
– Build an active, inclusive community around geoscience and remote sensing in Austria.
– Provide high-quality technical content and networking opportunities.
– Support the next generation of scientists and engineers through visibility, mentoring, and collaboration.

Our interests span:
– Remote sensing of land, atmosphere, cryosphere, and oceans
– GIS, geo-analytics, and spatial data infrastructures
– Machine learning and AI for geospatial applications
– Open-source tools, reproducible research, and FAIR data
